Faith - Ignite Kids' Faith Journey Today
Faith has many aspects - spiritual, personal, relational, ideas and goals. That is why you want to ignite your kids' faith journey starting today.
Some people are religious, some aren't. However, we all have spiritual aspects within us.
These character traits include kindness, caring, compassion, trust, trustworthiness, honesty, idealism, etc.
As a parent, you may or may not want your child to have religious beliefs.
However, more than likely, you will want your child to believe in themselves, have confidence in the support of others, have dreams or visions that motivate them to take action, and have the faith to keep them on track despite challenges along the way.
When you encourage children, you express faith in their abilities. As a parent, child care educator, or teacher, saying, 'I know you can do this,' when they are learning to walk, ride a bike, pack their toys away, or do some other small, doable task shows that you believe in them.
Time and practice are required to learn something like tying a shoelace or learning to dress oneself; however, when your child hears you say, 'It's OK, try again; I believe in you,' - it's a powerful message they receive.
The words you say to your child, or the children in your life, become their inner voice, so make them positive and powerful.
Your words need to be more potent than the drug dealer down the road that they may come across in later years.
We all have a favourite aunt or teacher. We also remember the ones who weren't so kind. I have heard famous people publicly state the name of a teacher they had in primary school, tell them they wouldn't amount to anything and other harmful things they would say.
While encouragement is appreciated, action is often required. When your child is learning to tie their shoelaces, you may need to show them a few times and allow them to practice until they've 'got it'.
Here are 3 Ways a parent or teacher can role model faith to children:
Celebrating small wins reinforces the value of effort and persistence, helping children recognise their progress without struggle.
Supporting a child's dreams and aspirations nurtures their sense of creativity and purpose; they also feel supported. When a parent exhibits trust in challenging situations, it builds trust and security in the child instead of a feeling of uncertainty in tough times.
Did you know that children raised with faith are often more resilient because they learn to trust or believe in solutions or outcomes beyond their current circumstances?
Research also shows that incorporating faith into a child's daily life enhances their well-being and social and emotional skills.
As you teach your child the importance of character traits, they develop a strong character and make choices based on what's right, even when it's different or unpopular.
As a child's role model, it is because you teach them about values - these character traits - and the importance of integrity.
During these challenging global times, I have faith in people like you because each drop in the ocean, each encouraging word, has a butterfly effect.
Love your work!
